Equine-human relations take a unique form in Fun In Motion’s EASETM Program headquartered in central New Jersey. Equine Assisted Social Skills Enrichment
(EASETM ) helps children improve their social skills by learning from none other than a therapy horse named Sadie. Robby Devery, Occupational Therapist and founder of Fun in Motion,
shares “We believe all kids deserve to feel good about themselves and have a sense of well being.”
Sadie travels around New Jersey using her own “social skills” to interact with the children in the program encouraging them to focus on self-awareness and their impact on others.
According to Ms. Devery, Sadie is a key facilitator in engaging and teaching group participants how to read emotions, communicate calmly, work cooperatively, and develop endurance for delayed gratification. EASETM learning modules focus on growth mindset, which encourages process through problem solving, and on social emotional learning (SEL) framework to facilitate integrated thinking, feeling, and behaving to become better aware of self and others.
With the program completing a successful first season, Devery is excited to share this novel learning experience with others in the Spring of 2016. Devery, well-versed in the necessity for practicing social adaptation in a variety of settings, offers EASETM programming at schools/facilities in New Jersey, and at Sadie’s farm home in Cranbury, NJ.
